Gamification in Duolingo App on Improving English Listening Proficiency of Junior High School Students

Gamification is considered as a strategy to involve students in solving problems related learning English, rather than playing games. Duolingo, an application that uses gamification, suitable for junior high school formal classroom setting English learning. This study aimed at investigating whether the use of gamification Duolingo App can improve listening proficiency English. research quasi-experimental design with quantitative approach. The data collected using test and observation analyzed SPSS 26 App. results show sig. (2 tailed) indicated 0.002 meaning there difference between post-test experiment class control class. It concluded app affects students. Hence, has potential serve valuable tool educators enhance their students' skills. Additionally, form foundation development technological resources. However, this some limitations, further involving different educational levels, media, longer duration necessary obtain detailed reliable be applied broader population.
